Eliot Congregational Church, Roxbury.

Eliot Congregational Church provides important spiritual and social leadership in Roxbury including a K-2 school and youth services. Historic Boston has been working with members of this congregation for 16 years on various projects including lighting, repair on the church’s major tower and restoring its decorative front door. This busy congregation recently completed emergency roof repairs with help from two grants from HBI that addressed serious leakage on the church’s roof that heavily damaged its gymnasium floor. With roof repaired, Eliot Congregational Church is moving forward with repairs to the gymnasium and other interior spaces. In 2009, this church was a finalist in the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express’s Partners in Preservation grant program.
