Charles River Speedway, Allston
Located at Christian Herter Park, 1175 Soldiers Field Road in Brighton, the Charles River Speedway is a complex that consists of six buildings built between 1899 and 1905 on Soldier’s Field Road. It is one of the earliest Metropolitan Parks Commission structures and was designed to support horse and buggy racing. It was designated as one of the Commonwealth’s “Most Endangered Historic Resources” in 2010.
HBI is working on a redevelopment feasibility study of the Charles River Speedway for the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.
