74 - 84 Fairmount Avenue, Hyde Park, MA

HBI discovered that this wooden, mixed-use commercial building may be the oldest surviving structure on Fairmount Avenue in Hyde Park's Logan Square (originally Everett Square) business district. Likely built in the late 1860s, its distinctive Mansard roof is typical of the style of many of Hyde Park's early buildings. An 1890s extension of the first floor storefronts includes remarkably intact interior spaces, with pressed metal wall and ceiling treatments.

HBI is working with the building's owner to uncover more about the history of this building and to help ensure its preservation.
