Historic Boston Incorporated is a non profit organization that works with local partners to identify and invest in the redevelopment of historically significant buildings and cultural resources in order to catalyze neighborhood renewal. Historic Boston projects benefit from a full menu of high quality support including technical expertise, site acquisition, project financing and access to local, state and federal resources.
The Eustis Street Fire House, Roxbury
The oldest remaining fire house structure in Boston, the 1859 Eustis Street Fire House was redeveloped for use as HBI’s headquarters after having been empty and in a precarious state for more than 40 years.
1510 Dorchester Avenue, Field’s Corner
A highly visible, two-story commercial block, the Golden Building was built in the 1890s. HBI worked with owner to restore the original façade and preserve surviving architectural elements.
65 Pleasant Street, Dorchester
The Anna Clapp Harris Smith House was built in 1804. HBI has been working with the North Bennet Street School’s preservation carpentry division to restore the exterior and interior for residential use.
The Hayden Building, Chinatown
This is the only remaining commercial building in Boston by Henry Hobson Richardson (1875). HBI is redeveloping the Chinatown building for residential use.
The Alvah Kittredge House, Roxbury
Prominent Boston businessman Alvah Kittredge built this Greek-Revival style home in Roxbury in 1836. HBI is currently redeveloping it for residential use.
